At 10 p.m. last night, heavy thunderstorms began in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The city’s infrastructure could not handle the water, and floods began to ravage homes throughout the city. The wall and gate gave way at the Girls Orphanage, severely flooding the house.
None of the girls were hurt, but the water rose six feet high, ruining everything on the lower floor. All their furniture, kitchen appliances, dishes, and many other personal items were ruined in the flood. In addition, the housemother’s car was flooded as well.
We are waiting to hear the extent of the damage, but communication is difficult because none of the city has electricity. The few pictures we have received are from Executive Director, Esteban Elvir’s cell phone.
Please pray for the many people who have lost their homes and for these sweet girls as we work to find them temporary shelter, clean up their house, and resume normal activities as soon as possible.
For those who want to help, we will update you shortly.
