Do you ever wonder if $30 a month really makes a difference?

Lorena Salgado cleans one of the POI projects to support her three sons. She also collects bottles on the streets with her mother to help supplement their income of only 40 lempiras (about two dollars) a day.

IMG_3984Her son Erick suffers from a mental paralysis which occupies most of her time, as well as the majority of her small income.

Lorena, her three sons and her mother live in a small house with one bed, rotting wood and no toilet.

“Life is difficult, but I am able to push through because of my love for my sons. I am thankful for POI because I know that my sons get a good meal each day, and because POI has given me the opportunity to work there part time” Lorena said.

Your support of POI makes this and many other similar stories possible. Despite the poverty that affects every aspect of these families’ lives, POI is able to impact lives for eternity by meeting basic needs that provide hope for a better future.

Take some time this month to pray for POI.

  • Pray for each child in the POI program, that they will see the gracious love of Christ through the needs met by POI.
  • Also pray for the families of each of those children. Pray that the Lord will provide for their needs, keep their families together and most of all, that they will see the incredible love that He has for them.

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15
