Serve POI | Spring Break

10372760_10103396006393000_4619537704830421640_nOur hashtag #servePOI is our way to keep you updated with prayer requests, pictures and quotes of those serving with us in Honduras. We’ve been overwhelmed by the two mission teams serving with us over spring break. These students truly came to serve and not to be served.

Whether you are a student, a leader, a donor or a staff member– we are so grateful for all that you have done in furthering the work of POI through your love, service, and encouragement.

Thank you Grace Crossing for serving through VBS [and putting on skits that the kids love], service projects throughout the neighborhoods, loving on the boys and girls orphanages, and taking the kids to a children’s museum.

I have been praying Philippians 2:3-5 over our team– these phrases in particular: In humility count others more significant than yourselves…also to the interests of others…have this mind among yourselves.

It is our prayer as leaders that the team would have a unified attitude of selfless service while respecting and honoring the culture of God’s people in Honduras. -Travis

We also want to thank the team from the University of Memphis BCM for creating profiles for the kids in our programs, loving on the orphanage kids, encouraging our staff and participating in various other service projects.

My prayer before the trip was that God would prepare our hearts, and that we could really show the love of Jesus to everyone we met in Honduras. -Rachel

We would also like to say thank you to our incredible staff. These are men and women who serve day after day– usually behind the scenes, usually without much recognition, but always with such joy and love.

Remember God is with us always, even in the midst of sorrows and not being able to understand things. That His works are wonderful, and that when we keep Him near to us, He strengthens our souls, hearts, and love for people. Keep Him near to you today and always. -Lauren
