A letter from Dr. Ivan Laínez, Executive Director for POI Honduras
Dr. Ivan Laínez has been serving as the Executive Director of POI since December 2014. He also served from 2010–2012 as the doctor and administrator in our neighborhood programs and orphanages. Having grown up in a neighborhood similar to the ones POI serves, he has a passionate desire to give back and share the love of Christ with the people of Honduras.

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 2 Corinthians 4:7 (NIV)
Dear Friends and POI Family,
I was blessed to witness the growth and development of this remarkable ministry in 2015. I am humbled every day by the wonderful people I work with and their commitment to God and our children. To say the least, 2015 was an awakening year, much was learned and God showed us his mercy and blessed us beyond our imagination. How wonderful is our God!
On behalf of all of the staff and children of POI Honduras, I wanted to extend our deepest gratitude. Thank you for visiting our country, thank you for giving to ou8children, thank you for being such an important part of our ministry, and thank you for serving with us!
The Lord has given us grace amongst the people and neighborhoods where we work and they have shown much appreciation. They value the work we do with so much love for Christ. By His grace, both kindergartens have reached their quota. In fact, many parents started lining up in San Juan project as early as 2 am to secure a seat with us. The Lord has been gracious!
This year we will grow to serve 576 children in our projects. These children will receive a balanced, nutritious and delicious meal each day. They will receive tutoring, which will be synced to what they are learning in schools, to improve their learning. And thanks to you and many other supporters, these children will also receive free medical care and treatments at our clinics when needed. Our teachers will also have a parent-teacher meeting at least once a month to further parental involvement in their child’s education. But most importantly they will be instructed in the gospel of Christ. We plan to spend much of our time and effort instilling in the heart of every child love and reverence for Christ.
Our clinics are a success. They are of extreme blessing to the families of POI children and to the neighborhoods where we work. This 2016, our prayer is to open a clinic in San Juan. Please pray that this dream becomes a reality.
This month we are focused and working hard on our backpacks project. On February 4th we will deliver 576 backpacks. How we have seen’s God provision for this project—we truly serve a wonderful God!*
In 2010, I had the chance to get to know the House Home Girls, many of whom had just entered our program and were in elementary school. I am so thankful to God to see the beautiful young women they are becoming. Three of them: Gabriela, Larizza and Carolina have moved to the Transformation Home where Ana Rivera, our Sponsorship and PR in Honduras, will be leading. I am extremely excited and have great expectations for what the Lord will do in our new house home. This transition is a huge challenge. Many organizations have failed to create a smooth and appropriate transition for their youth, but the Lord has instructed us which way we should go and our prayer is that our girls will take advantage of the opportunity given to them. We ask you to pray with us that they will succeed in their senior year of high school, look forward to their university education, grow in knowledge and in their relationship with Christ, and become women of faith.
The deep longing of our hearts is that our ministry walks in the footsteps of the Lord. Our prayer is that every supporter and every staff member may clearly hear the voice of God and follow in the direction where the Lord leads. Our Lord has blessed POI in abundance and we are ready and happy to start a new year. I am so thankful to God for the opportunity to begin 2016 full of hope and motivation to serve in this beautiful ministry. Our ministry has a beautiful name, POINT OF IMPACT, and that is what we strive for every single day. We want to impact the lives of our children and their families with Christ. We want our work to honor God and bring glory to his name.
Once more, thank you! To God be all the honor and glory!
Dr. Ivan Laínez
